After seemingly circling the globe, a canvas-clad steamer trunk landed at a famed European antiques market. It was battered and worn, however its cautious development and good-looking detailing marked it as bespoke baggage, crafted in early 20th-century England for a traveler of discerning style (a traveler whose identify – in line with the brass plate mounted above the latch – was Tom Richards). Plucked from potential obscurity, the trunk made its solution to the workshop of Timothy Oulton, the place it was painstakingly dismantled – each pin eliminated and measured, each hinge and brace scrutinized. And from that well-made, well-traveled trunk, a set was born. Our polished aluminum model was impressed by the gleaming nostril cones and fuselages of mid-20th-century plane, clad in a patchwork of polished aluminum panels accented with uncovered metal screws.
